Burrowing Owl VS Newborn Mice

This burrowing owl was found in what seemed to be an injured state outside and was brought inside for observation. Wildlife Rescue was contacted but after a few days of observation it was realized that he was not injured and was ok for release. We bought him some baby mice and crickets to make sure he was able to hunt and eat on his own and as you can see here he’s doing just fine. He was then released and flew back out into the wild. I hope he’s still doing great and lives a very long healthy life. I’ve always been curious about watching how owls behave and this was an awesome chance to feed one and watch his behavior. He was alright with being held and was a very brave little guy! I was very happy to see that he ate without hesitation and that he was doing great.
