As most of you have already heard, A major development has occured out of Cupertino, California: Apple CEO Steve Jobs has decided to step down from his position. The board has chosen to name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple. They said “Steve’s extraordinary vision and leadership saved Apple and guided it to its position as the world’s most innovative and valuable technology company.”
Steve himself published the following letter on one of Macintosh’s Sites:
I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.
I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.
As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.
I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.
I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.
Apple has confirmed that Jobs will stay on as Chairman of the board.
I disagree with all of these people who are claiming that this is the best time to sell your apple stocks. In my opinion this would actually be a great time to BUY apple stock because they’re going to drop a bunch in price from all of the investors who fear apple’s downfall and sell their stocks. However, I guarantee it will skyrocket again pretty soon. There’s no way Apple is going to be hurting even though most of you know how I hate apple products with a passion. I think they’ve paved the way for a long time to come though. Steve Jobs is still on the board and will have say in a lot of what goes on at Apple Headquarters. He’s definitely got the drive and conviction that most people could only wish to have a small percentage of. He has changed consumer products for the whole world and how high the bar is set for competitors creating similar products. Apple will do just fine as long as they follow his philosophy, values, & ethos.
