Steve-O’s Standup Comedy Act
Last night Mel and I made a last minute decision to check out steve-o’s stand up act. I’ve seen a few videos on youtube in the past and have always been a huge fan of all of the rest of his work. For any of you who know me well, you’ll already know that I own everything the jackass guys and cky guys have ever done. I know so much about those guys that it’s borderline creepy. I guess when my fascination with Marilyn Manson and Nine Inch Nails Started to fade, It only made sense to move onto the next thing that really put me in awe. It wasn’t that they were doing all these crazy stunts that caught my attention, it was their determination to make something out of it. It’s a similar reason to why I fell in love with wanting to be in a band. “You mean, I get to party and make money at the same time? Count me in”, said the 13yr old version of Dro.
I even had a project a few years ago, Hardcore Mayhem, which I’ve been dying to bring back. I started it in 2004 and can’t believe it’s already 2012! My whole purpose for starting that project was based on the fact that I’ve had so many crazy experiences (esp. on tour with Deadstar Assembly) that no one ever believed the things I’d been though. I knew right away that the best way to prove these things were to just video tape them and keep record. After years of starting the project, I’m still amazed at all of the things I’d forgotten about since I began recording. In the process of taping Hardcore Mayhem, I got the amazing chance to meet a lot of the people I looked up to, including some of the guys from Jackass.
I met Ryan Dunn a few times and even got him to shoot some footage with me, Met Don Vito a few times, Met Preston Lacey at the Airport by accident while carrying all the CKY and Steve-O dvd’s in my hand, I was getting ready to watch them on the plane, and so on…
Unfortunately, I never got the chance to meet Steve-O but have always admired everything he’s done the most. He’s got a way of making others smile, when you know deep down inside he’s filled with issues that no one will ever understand unless they walked a day in his shoes. I get it because a lot of my fans see me as having this amazing life, yet I sit in silence a lot thinking about how I can better myself and how shitty some things are around me.
Anyway, the whole point of this post was for me to write about how much I enjoyed his stand-up act. Steve-O did an amazing job and after the show, he did one of the things I’ve always prided myself on. After I perform on stage, I always go hang out with the fans after and make sure I take photos with everyone and anyone who wants to. I love that people support what I do and that in some way, I made their night better by just doing what I love anyway. I thought there were going to be more stunts, but I was glad there wasn’t. The best thing is that he has proven time and time again that he doesn’t really need to be hurting himself to entertain. If you ever get a chance, check out his stand-up show. You wont be disappointed, I promise!
When I got the chance to finally speak with him, I wanted to make sure I let him know that I had footage of that I shot with Ryan Dunn for Hardcore Mayhem. I asked him if his email address wasn’t on his website, if he could please write it in the book for me. (I purchased the bad-ass book he just released a few months ago about his life). I let him know I wanted to send him some videos. He was a bit hesitant and then I quickly realized what I said. I’m sure thousands of kids want to send him footage of themselves performing idiotic stunts because they think he can do something to help make them famous for it. I Immediately re-worded it and let him know that they were videos I shot with DUNN. He was nice and trusting enough to let me have his email and now I’m excited to grab those mini dv tapes from my mom’s house so I can show him some of the footage. I guess this whole thing is important to me because Ryan showed me an awesome time when I got to meet him and agreed to do something most celebrities wont. I felt really shitty when I heard he passed away and I’m sure so did all of the Jackass crew. Even if they weren’t friends anymore or if they were having issues. It’s still someone who was a big part of their lives.
Lastly, I began reading his book last night and it’s awesome. Go check it out if you haven’t picked up a copy. I never read books, and I had a very hard time putting this one down last night. It has 5/5 stars for a reason & You can get your copy here:

Deadstar Assembly Get’s Ready for Another Tour!
Germany, Here we come!
After about 8 Years of playing shows in the US, Deadstar Assembly finally gets ready to embark on their next level of touring. We’re currently gearing up for the second leg of the Coat of Arms tour which will begin at Germany’s Summer Breeze Open Air Festival. You can find out more information about the tour on the Summer Breeze website. Some of the bands we will be performing with at this festival include: Sepultura, Napalm Death, GWAR, Cannibal Corpse, The Black Dahlia Murder, Agnostic Front, Behemoth, Dark Funeral, Dying Fetus, Gorgoroth, Ill Nino, Macabre, My Dying Bride, Sick of it All, Suffocation, The 69 Eyes, and many more! You can check out the full list on their Bands Page.
We got word that this 3-day festival is already sold out. There will be about 90 Bands and 30,000 people for each day of the festival! I’m mostly excited about the fact that I can finally leave the country again and especially for a show this big. For those of you who didn’t know, my Brazilian passport had expired and it was a bit of a bitch for me to get it renewed. I’m not an American Citizen, just a legal resident, and it was a lot harder than it should have been for me to renew the passport. Anyone who’s had to deal with the debacle will tell you, dealing with consulates are less than appealing. Their web sites are missing a ton of important information and just trying to find out what I needed to do was bad enough, let alone trying to call them. They’re the most unhelpful people you’ll ever deal with. You call them, and they tell you to email the site for more information, then they reply to the email and tell you to call them. It’s like a never ending FOR loop in a poorly written piece of software.
Regardless, after all of that was taken care of, I got more great news that we’re also going back out west for this second leg of the tour. We’ll be performing in states such as Colorado, Utah, Washington, Nevada, and one of my favorites, California. We get to perform at The Whisky A Go-Go in West Hollywood, CA for the second time and I can’t wait! This part of the tour will be with The Dreaming. The Dreaming includes Christopher Hall (Singer of Stabbing Westward) and Carlton Bost (Guitarist of Deadsy).
I’m looking forward to the upcoming tour and hope everything works out the way it’s supposed to.

New Twitter Background
I finally got a few minutes of downtime which is pretty rare for me and decided to spice up my twitter background.
As a graphic designer & developer, it frustrates me that I don’t have a custom bad-ass web site and personal social networking designs. I spend all of my time designing for others and never have enough time to design for myself anymore. It’s unfortunate because the reality is, no matter how many hours I put in each day, I still seem to be getting no-where financially.
The thing that sucks about my field at the moment is that no one is really willing to pay what us designers and developers are worth. In turn, projects take longer to complete and are more difficult because freelancers end up having to take on more projects at a time, at lower costs than normal, in order to pay the bills & survive.
I strongly believe that if clients were willing to pay more, designers could focus more of their attention to the one specific project at hand and not worry about having to take on others just to stay afloat.
Regardless, I took a bit of time I had left over after completing a task and decided to finally design something for myself. Check out my new Twitter Background image and feel free to comment and let me know what you think.
I have uploaded it to the server in case anyone wants to use it as their background. I understand that it’s a personal background and has all my links on it, but if anyone requests a custom made one for use on their page, I will gladly create one for them as time permits.

New Deadstar Tour Dates to be Announced
As the new year rolls in, I’ve been spending my time trying to figure out what’s going to happen as the days fly by. I begin to wonder where the last year’s worth of hard work has gone. Things have been hectic, but finally beginning to come together. After meeting at the studio to help master the new Deadstar Assembly CD, Coat of Arms, we also discussed going back out on tour after it’s release. The release date is planned for the very end of March. This will be close to or on our anniversary of our very first live show. For those of you who know our history, we graced the stage at the Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale Florida on March 30th, 2002! Seems so long ago…
Here’s a sneak peak at our new look & feel and be sure to look out for the upcoming tour dates.
The full tour officially starts Mid-April as dates are coming in faster than ever…
