This burrowing owl was found in what seemed to be an injured state outside and was brought inside for observation. Wildlife Rescue was contacted but after a few days of observation it was realized that he was not injured and was ok for release. We bought him some baby mice and crickets to make sure he was able to hunt and eat on his own and as you can see here he’s doing just fine. He was then released and flew back out into the wild. I hope he’s still doing great and lives a very long healthy life. I’ve always been curious about watching how owls behave and this was an awesome chance to feed one and watch his behavior. He was alright with being held and was a very brave little guy! I was very happy to see that he ate without hesitation and that he was doing great.

I have placed two orders on Amazon.com from a store called “9GreenBox” and what I got in the mail was not what they advertised. I have posted below the photos of what they are selling, and what I actually received in the mail. I would suggest against buying from them because I see a ton of people in the feedback having the same issues. Unfortunately I didn’t see the feedbacks before I placed the order but I will be sure next time to keep an eye out for that. The order was for Venus Fly Traps and Pitcher Plants.

Here’s what they were advertising:
<img src="http://the-dro.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/41BSjJmWuYL._SL500_AA300_.jpg" alt="41BSjJmWuYL.

Here’s what I actually received:

What do you guys think? Does it resemble the images at all?
Now, I know that I wasn’t going to get what was exactly pictured, I’m not stupid. But c’mon, those plants were not in good shape at all. They could have at least sent some decent looking ones.

I’m going to try everything I can to get these back in shape, and in the meantime, file a claim in hopes that they fix their error.
If anyone has some suggestions please feel free to let me know in the comments below.

I caught this giant bastard mid-air like Mr. Miyagi and shit.

A lot of people think these are giant mosquito’s flying around their homes but they’re actually just another type of fly. Crane Flies are harmless and there’s really no reason to kill them other than the fact that they’re scary as hell looking!

Crane Flies can become an annoyance when they enter homes but They really do no harm. The only reason they make it into your home is ’cause they are attracted to lights that you forget to shut off when you leave the room! Crane Flies don’t bite at all even though they look like they’re going to suck all of the blood out of the next unsuspecting victim, actually though, they don’t even eat! Their larvae, however, are very important because they assist in breaking down dead plant material. Mainly, dead leaves and stems on the bottoms of streams. This is part of what causes the water to remain healthy for fish and other wildlife that live or drink from the source.

If you’re looking for more information on these creepy bastards, they are in the Tipula genus. The common is (Tipulidae oleracea).
